About this expansion
Platinum is the first English Platinum-series expansion for the Pokémon TCG released on 2009-02-11 and uses set code PL1. It introduced the Pokémon LV.X mechanic, a level-up card type that sits on top of a Pokémon to grant extra HP and attacks and which altered deck-building and upgrade decisions. The set continues the Diamond & Pearl (Sinnoh) era by adding new and updated support for Sinnoh-region Pokémon and trainer cards and served as the kickoff to the Platinum block of expansions.
