The front side lets you pay {1}{B} and 2 life to draw and can transform at the beginning of your upkeep if you have 5 or less life; the back side taps for {B} and can sacrifice a creature to gain life equal to its toughness. As a transform card it functions both as a recurring draw engine that can become a mana-producing land and as a sac outlet that trades creatures for life when transformed.
