About this expansion
Released on July 30, 2001, Southern Islands is a small promotional expansion in the Pokémon TCG issued during the movie-era Southern Islands series. In Japan the set first appeared tied to the second Pokémon movie in two promo folders (Rainbow and Tropical Island) and was also distributed in three-card box sets that highlighted each island. The cards feature illustrated, decorated artwork and special holofoil finishes and include small-format promos of iconic Pokémon such as Pikachu and Togepi.
