About this expansion
EX Emerald is the ninth EXPANSION in the EX series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, released on April 30, 2005 (set code EX9) and tied to the Generation III era of the franchise. The set continued the EX-era design by including Pokémon-ex along with supporting Trainer and Energy cards that fit the mechanics and deck-building approaches of that period. Players used cards from this expansion to construct decks for Standard/tournament play at the time, while collectors seek out its Generation III–themed cards and holo/rare printings for completing collections.
