Damping Sphere (DMR-377) is an artifact. It makes any land that would tap for two or more mana produce only colorless mana and increases the cost of each spell a player casts by 1 for each other spell that player has cast that turn. These restrictions function as a tax and soft lock against storm and large mana-generation strategies, so it is often played to disrupt combo and ramp decks.
