It attaches to a Pokémon that has no other Tool, is discarded if that Pokémon is Knocked Out, and is discarded instead of Energy cards when the host retreats. It can help preserve attached Energy during retreats, supporting strategies that aim to keep Energy on benched or switching Pokémon.
