Lifeline (USG 299) is a rare artifact from Urza's Saga that interacts with creatures dying. Whenever a creature dies, if there is another creature on the battlefield, it sets up an effect to return the dying creature to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step. The trigger uses an intervening-if clause and targets creatures individually, failing if the creature is no longer in the graveyard or if no creature was present when the ability resolves.
