As Lodestone Needle it has Flash and an enters-the-battlefield effect that taps and places two stun counters on a target artifact or creature, and it can be crafted by exiling artifacts to transform. As Guidestone Compass it becomes an artifact that can tap for an explore effect, letting a chosen creature explore for one mana and tap, providing card advantage or +1/+1 counters for creature development.
