It prevents the next damage a chosen source would deal to you this turn, redirects that prevented amount as damage to that source’s controller, and lets you draw that many cards. As an instant that redirects damage and replaces it with card draw, it can act as both removal/tempo and a card-advantage engine in decks that can pay its four-color mana cost.
