Thing in the Ice // Awoken Horror (SOI-92, Rare) is a two-faced blue creature from Shadows over Innistrad that enters with four ice counters and defender. Its front face removes an ice counter whenever you cast an instant or sorcery and transforms into Awoken Horror when the last counter is removed; the back face is a 7/8 Kraken Horror that, on transforming in, returns all non-Horror creatures to their owners' hands. The card functions as a tempo/swing piece that can punish opponents’ boards when transformed and pairs well with low-cost instants and sorceries to accelerate its flip.
