It has upkeep-triggered abilities that cause each opponent to lose 2 life at the beginning of your upkeep if you have no cards in hand, and cause an opponent to lose 2 life at the beginning of their upkeep if that opponent has no cards in hand. Its high mana value and repeated life-drain triggers make it a finisher in graveyard or discard-themed decks that can empty hands or discourage opponents from holding cards.
