Whenever the equipped creature deals combat damage you put two charge counters on the Jitte, and you can remove a counter to either give the equipped creature +2/+2, put -1/-1 on a target creature, or gain 2 life. With Equip {2} it functions as a combat-control piece that shifts counters into recurring small removal, pump, or life gain depending on the board state.
