Rethink (PCY-42) is a common blue instant from Prophecy. It counters a target spell unless that spell’s controller pays an amount of mana equal to that spell’s mana value. As a soft counter effect it can be used defensively to tax opponents’ key spells or to protect tempo by forcing additional payment.
