Profane Command (HOP-38) is a black sorcery from the Planechase expansion that costs {X}{B}{B} and is printed at Rare. When cast you choose two modes and X, allowing effects such as causing a player to lose X life, returning a creature with mana value X or less from your graveyard, giving a creature -X/-X, or granting up to X creatures fear until end of turn. The spell’s single X payment applies to both chosen modes and scales the strength of the selected effects.
