It accumulates charge counters at each upkeep and when you cast black spells, and can be sacrificed with {4}, {T} to force a target player to discard a card for each charge counter on it. Its discard-triggering activation can be used at instant speed, allowing timing interactions such as responding to draws or during opponents' turns.
