Grim Affliction (MM2-84) is a black instant from Modern Masters 2015. It puts a -1/-1 counter on target creature, then lets you proliferate to add counters to any number of permanents and players. That pairing makes it effective both for removing creatures over time and for advancing strategies that care about counters, such as planeswalker or infect builds.
