It has Defender and a state-triggered ability that forces you to sacrifice it if it has flying, and a leaves-the-battlefield triggered ability that deals damage to each nonblue, nonflying creature equal to half the number of Islands you control, rounded down. Its role is defensive but can punish opponents' ground creature development when it leaves play.
