War Cadence (MMQ 224) is a red Enchantment from the Mercadian Masques expansion. It has an activated ability {X}{R} that, for the turn, makes creatures unable to block unless their controller pays X for each blocking creature they control. As a combat-control tool it can be used with X=0 to force specific creatures to be unable to block or with larger X to tax multiple blockers and protect attacks.
