Transmute Artifact (ME4-69) is a rare blue sorcery from Masters Edition IV that interacts with artifacts. When it resolves you sacrifice an artifact to search your library for another artifact and may put it onto the battlefield, paying extra mana only if its mana value exceeds the sacrificed artifact's. The effect happens on resolution (the sacrifice is not a casting cost), so if the spell is countered you don't sacrifice anything.
