Stave Off (M12-36) is a white instant from the Magic 2012 core set. It gives target creature protection from a color of your choice until end of turn, chosen when the spell resolves. That temporary protection can be used to block damage, remove enchantment or equipment effects of the chosen color, or make the creature untargetable by spells of that color for the turn.
