As this enchantment enters, you lose life equal to your life total. You don't lose the game for having 0 or less life. If you would gain life, draw that many cards instead. Whenever you're dealt damage, sacrifice that many nontoken permanents. If you can't, you lose the game. When this enchantment is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you lose the game.

Lich (LEB 114) is a black enchantment from Limited Edition Beta that replaces life gain with card draw and prevents you from losing for having 0 or less life. It forces you to pay your life total as it enters and requires you to sacrifice nontoken permanents whenever you take damage, creating a high-risk resource-conversion engine. Its lethal catch is that if it leaves the battlefield (is put into a graveyard), you immediately lose the game, constraining deckbuilding and play around board protection.
