Desertion (PZ1-24 foil) is a blue Instant reprinted in the Legendary Cube Prize Pack that can counter a target spell. If the countered spell is an artifact or creature, Desertion instead moves that card onto the battlefield under your control rather than letting it go to its owner’s graveyard. In play, it serves both as spell disruption and a theft effect, enabling tempo swings by converting opponents’ threats or artifacts into your permanents.
