Its +1 can tap an artifact or creature and prevent it from untapping next turn, its −X reanimates a nonland card from your graveyard as a token copy, and its −7 creates Tamiyo's Notebook that reduces spell costs and provides card draw. The card’s Compleated cost option can be paid with green, blue, or 2 life, which affects the number of loyalty counters it enters the battlefield with.
