Pithing Needle (MPS-44 foil) is an artifact reprinted in the Kaladesh Inventions Masterpiece series. As it enters the battlefield you choose a card name, and activated abilities of sources with that name can’t be activated unless they’re mana abilities. It’s commonly played as a hatepiece to shut down specific activated abilities from permanents, planeswalkers, or cards in other zones to disrupt an opponent’s strategy.
