Wash Away (DBL 354, Uncommon) is a blue instant reprinted in Innistrad: Double Feature that features the Cleave mechanic. Its normal casting counters a target spell, while paying the Cleave cost removes the bracketed restriction so it can counter spells not cast from a player’s hand. The card can serve as a flexible counterspell or a way to handle copies and off-zone casts depending on which cost you pay.
