As the Curse it attaches to a player and causes them to lose 1 life at the beginning of their upkeep while you gain 1 life; as the creature it has lifelink and interacts with day/night rules to transform. The card's daybound/nightbound mechanics let it switch between being a recurrent curse and a blocking lifelink creature depending on spells cast during turns.
