Devour Flesh (GTC 63) is a common black instant from Gatecrash that forces a target player to sacrifice a creature. When the sacrifice occurs, that player then gains life equal to the sacrificed creature’s toughness as it last existed on the battlefield. The card provides a cheap removal/tax effect against opponents’ boards while simultaneously granting them life, making it a tempo tool in limited and some casual constructed environments.
