Whenever it attacks you may exile another target nontoken creature to have Identity Thief become a copy of that creature until end of turn, with the exiled card returning at the next end step. This effect can be used to copy key attacker stats or abilities temporarily, making it a flexible threat in decks that want to steal or mimic opposing creatures.
