Cowardice (8ED-71) is a blue enchantment from Eighth Edition that forces any creature targeted by a spell or ability to return to its owner's hand. This creates a deterrent against targeted removal or pump spells by making those targets bounce instead of being affected. In decks it functions as soft protection and tempo disruption by removing opponents' creatures from the battlefield while also resetting any beneficial counters or auras on your own creatures if targeted.
