It has Magecraft that drains opponents and gains you life whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery, and three loyalty abilities that let you scry/draw at a life cost, force opponent creature sacrifices, and a repeatable discard-or-lose-life ultimatum. Its abilities support spell-heavy black decks and multiplayer/commander strategies that can repeatedly trigger Magecraft and leverage mass-sacrifice or hand-disruption effects.
