It can be kicked once or twice for white and/or blue costs to phase out up to X creatures and/or planeswalkers you control, where X equals the number of times it was kicked. After resolving, it deals 5 damage to each creature and each planeswalker, providing both a protective phasing effect and a boardwipe.
