Its enter-the-battlefield ability exiles cards from the top of your library until you hit a nonland card, putting each qualifying nonland card with mana value 4 or greater into your hand and dealing you 1 damage per card drawn this way. As a large black finisher with a repeatable dig effect, it serves as a late-game value engine at the cost of life.
