As equipment, it gives Equip {1} and places a +1/+1 counter on the equipped creature whenever a creature you control dies. As the Adventure Bind Spirit, you may pay {1}{B} to return a creature card from your graveyard to your hand and then exile this card, allowing you to cast the permanent side later from exile.
