Whenever you cast your first spell each turn, you reveal the top card of your library and may cast it without paying its mana cost if its mana value is less than the triggering spell, otherwise you put it into your hand. Because the ability triggers on each player’s first spell and resolves immediately, it generates off-turn value and enables surprise plays that can alter combat and stack interactions.
