Illicit Auction (6ED-190) is a red sorcery from Classic Sixth Edition that lets players bid life to gain control of a target creature. The caster starts the auction at 0 and the highest bidder loses life equal to their bid and gains permanent control of the creature. A 2004 ruling clarifies that the life paid is loss (not payment), so players may bid more life than they currently have.
