Scuttling Death (CHK-142) is a common Black Creature — Spirit from Champions of Kamigawa. It can be sacrificed to give target creature -1/-1 until end of turn and has Soulshift 4, letting you return a Spirit with mana value 4 or less from your graveyard when it dies. This makes it useful both as a cheap removal/pump interaction and as a graveyard recursion enabler for Spirit-themed decks.
