It replaces token creation so that whenever one or more tokens would be created under your control, that many additional 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens are created instead. You can pay B and sacrifice X Squirrels to give target creature +X/-X until end of turn and it has Forestwalk, supporting both token synergies and sacrifice themes.
