His static ability reduces the generic mana cost of instant and sorcery spells you cast by {1}, and his triggered ability lets you draw then discard a card whenever a spell or ability you control counters a spell. As a low-cost spell-synergy commander or support card, he enables cheaper spellcasting and card selection in tempo and control strategies.
